American Kiko Goat Association
Jr. Art Contest

Sponsored by the AKGA

1.  OPEN TO: AKGA members, Jr. Members and their immediate families.  If your farm is registered and in good standing with the AKGA
your children  and/or grandchildren are eligible for the contest.

2.  DIVISIONS:
        a.  0 - 5 years of age
        b.  6 - 10 years of age
        c.  11 - 15 years of age
        d.  16 - 18 years of age

3.  ENTRY RULES:
        a.  Size: 8.5 x 11 inch. (average printer style paper or equivalent)
        b. Medium:  All medium will be accepted.  Markers, crayon, water color, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal, cut out...you name it, just try to keep it flat.
        c.  Subject material:  Goats or course!!!  There must be at least one goat in the picture.  Since we are Kiko people, the goat should be a Kiko
The goal of this contest is to support our youth's interest in GOATS and life on the farm.
     d. Artist name, age, title entry, address and farm name MUST BE
printed on the back by an adult (no names on front).  Kids will often
automatically place their name in the corner of their drawings as they have been taught in school.  If a name is mistakenly added on the front
of the drawing by the child, I can cover it with a piece of tape or paper, so don't make your little one re-do their masterpiece.  I also need
to know if your child can accept the donated goat for Best of Show (See awards section).  A simple yes or no on back will work.  (Please
consider transportation of goat when deciding yes or no.)
            Example or entry information:
                Jane Doe
                9 years old
                'The Doe in the Dawn'
                1422 Any Road
                Anytown, TX 12345
                Anytown Kiko Ranch
                YES
(I recommend using a ball point or pencil as other styles such as felt may bleed through to the front of the entry.) PLEASE print legibly so
proper credit may be given to winners and to ensure proper return.
        e.  Must be received by: MAY 15, 2008.  Please do not fold your contest entries, mail them out flat in a larger envelope.  Multiple entries can
            be sent in one envelope.
        f.  One entry per child per household/farm.

4.  Project/Drawing return: If you wish to have entries returned to you please include $1.00 for each entry.  This will help me cover the cost of
envelopes and postage. No dollar means no return.  Make checks payable to Aleda Kivett, Memo: Art Contest.  Any money generated above the
cost will be applied to the Jr. Membership to support future activities.  You may also pick up entries after the sale when things settle down on
    Saturday.

5.  Judging:
        a.  At this time it is my intention to ask the art teachers of the Fort Scott school system to judge our contest.  If they decline, judging may be
subject to the first three warm bodies who agree.
        b.  Judging will be done Friday afternoon.

6.  Awards: Ribbons will be given 1st through 3rd place in each division.  One award will be given out to one individual for Best of Show.  It is
possible for the Best of Show winner to have won his or her category, but will not be a requirement. Best of Show winner will be awarded one
free goat registry.  Currently the contest has one Purebred doeling that has been donated to the Best of Show winner.  A New Zealand doe has
also been donated to be sold at the benefit auction with proceeds to be divided among the contest winners.  If the Best of Show winner cannot
accept the donated goat, it will be sold in the benefit auction with proceeds to go to the winner.  Need not be present to win.
