GENERAL INFORMATION
Section A
1. The 2008 Showcase Sale will be held at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds in Ft. Scott, Kansas at 12:30 p.m. on June 21, 2008
2. The purpose of the sale is to showcase the best of the breed and thus will be limited to about 120 animals. Entries will be made in 3 divisions, limited to 50 New Zealand animals, 35 Purebred animals and 30 percentage or alternative program animals. These numbers are based on the ratio that was consigned to the sale last year.
3. Every animal in the Showcase Sale, regardless of the division they are in, must be DNA'd.
4. A consignor must consign five (5) doe units in order to consign one (1) buck.
5. Due to the limit on numbers and in order to
vie the breeder members an equal opportunity to participate, requests for sale
spaces will be open from February 20 until March 15, 2008.
a. Breeder members should
provide the sale manager with the number [maximum number of animals any one AKGA
member can consign is six (6)] of sale spaces
requested for each of the three (3)
divisions totaling a maximum of six (6) entries. (Does with nursing kids
are considered as one [1] unit.)
b. The payment of a $25.00 consignment fee per sale space requested must accompany each of your consignment requests.
c.
If a division receives more requests for space than the limit for that division,
breeders will be promptly notified and space allotted on a prorated basis to all
who have requested
entries by the deadline.
d. If a division does not reach its limit, the entries will be reopened for that division until the limit is reached
e. If a division is not filled by catalog deadline of May 10, 2008, additional entries may be taken from other divisions that are filled.
f. The total number of goats consigned by each farm may be down sized depending on the total number of goats consigned. You will be notified if this occurs.
6. The $25.00 per head consignment fee will not be refunded for any reason, including failure for enough positions to be available in that division or an animal being withdrawn. The total of the entry fees paid by a breeder will, however, be deducted from the commissions charged for selling their animals at the Showcase Sale.
7. There will be no private sales on the premises of the Bourbon County Fairgrounds during the time that it is rented by the AKGA. In the event that an AKGA Breeder member has made arrangements to deliver a previously sold animal to a person attending the AKGA National Convention or the AKGA Showcase Sale, they will be allowed to conduct the exchange, provided that they have notified the sale manager in advance. All the animals must remain in private trucks or trailers an do not enter the sales facilities. Goats that are bought or sold privately on the Bourbon County Fairgrounds during the 2008 AKGA Convention without the paperwork being processed through the sale office will be considered cause for both the buyer and seller being banned from consigning animals to all future AKGA events.
8. Consignors to the AKGA Showcase Sale must be members in good standing with the AKGA.
9. The AKGA is coordinating the auction as a service to buyers and sellers and is not responsible for livestock in the sale. All agreements or guarantees are between the buyer and the seller. All goats are sold as is and become the property of the buyer at the drop of the gavel. Potential buyers are cautioned to examine animals carefully and have all questions answered before the start of the sale.
